Indian Cricket Team and Its Bright Future

Future of Indian Cricket is in the safe hands. By safe hands, I am not stating about the BCCI and its members. If you ignore what’s happening between the cricketing board and the supreme court and focus on the performance of Indian cricket team then, every Indian team fan will agree on it. And the reason behind the upcoming golden future is the new Indian coaches and mentors of both junior and national team. Today both the team managements are working as hard as the players under Rahul Dravid and Anil Kumble respectively.

In a recent interview, Dravid lauded Virat Kohli and head coach Anil Kumble for creating an environment where youngsters are feeling comfortable and feels success of Karun Nair and Jayant Yadav, products of the India ‘A’ team, is purely because of the process that has been put in place. Further he said that credit to Virat and Anil for the setup and what they have been doing at the national level. So we are seeing bsuch results, nice to be part of that process. Speaking about the process he says that we are always in touch with the national team as to what is the skill-set that they are looking at in the future. If they are looking at all-rounders, we will try and play as many all-rounders as we can at the junior level.

These words of The chief coach of India’A’ and U19 team, Rahul Dravid clearly explain about the planning and process on which both the junior and senior team are going on. It gives satisfaction as a cricket fan to us that the management is not looking for or sticking to some names instead they are going for thr quality players and building them according to the need of the team. Under 19, India’A’ are feeding ground for national team. Earlier many big players has came up from U19 team and played extremely well like Yuvraj Singh, Virat Kohli, Mohammad Kaif and many others. But now Dravid says, “It is dangerous and difficult to put all eggs in one basket and these are our core group of 15 players. We should identify a broader group of 30 players and give them many matches against other oppositions. At this age, it is very hard to tell which one is actually going to make it. I think you got to give all of them an opportunity to make it and grow as cricketers. In this respect, he has brought a rule that a cricketer can play only one U19 World Cup.

Anil Kumble is also doing such good changes in the national team and has came up with his own new rules and working on it with Virat Kohli in test matches and MS Dhoni in limited over games. Anil Kumble have given goid opportunity to each blowers to perform and to be ready to perform when the team needs. Indian team is now playing with the five blowers strategy and result is in front of us.

MS Dhoni took the team to a great height after the retirement of Captain Ganguly and some big names like Sachin, Dravid, Laxman, Kumble etc. Dhoni lead the team with both seniors and  youngsters very well and made India a champion team. Gary Kristen and Ducan Fletcher coached the team during that time. Dhoni and Virat have been two players who have shaped team’s cricketing fortunes as captain in the current decades. While India faced a tough time under Dhoni’s captaincy in test cricket in the last three years of his reign, the table have turned ever since Kohli has became the captain of the test team. Both the skippers have a distinct leadership style of their own. Virat is known for his bold decisions and attaching approach but Dhoni is cool-headed and use to act on cautious approach.

After the retirement of Dhoni from test cricket, Virat has led the team extremely well. Virat has refreshed the environment and utilised the good players in the best manner with the help of Anil Kumble, Sanjay Bangar and other mentors. Virat and team have brought the team on a winning track. Now, Team India is the world’s number one test team. After winning the test series against England by 4-0, the Virat’s team has extended their unbeaten streak to 18 matches. It is a new landmark for Indian Cricket. All the players have contributed in it. And, World’s number one blower Ravichandran Ashwin has done extraordinary job for the team with Jadega in bowling department. Virat, Pujara, Vijay and others are performing well as batters for the team. Hope the limited overs team will come on track soon under Dhoni’s captaincy as we all are eyeing on the next T20 World Cup in India and then the upcoming 2019 World Cup.
