This is the story of a girl named ISHA whose simple life becomes painful and how her surrounding and this world has been rude to her. Her struggle to face the odds of life and how she got lost in that battle. Finally how she gave up her life.

About the Story:

The one of the main character, ROHAN who is a successful author at present tells this story to his friend Rakesh. He tells him about what happened five years ago. The first chapter start with this. Rohan got a job in a local English daily after completing journalism course. He got a work to study details of a rape case on the first day. After some queries he founds that the rape victim is his college mate and She is ISHA. He loves from those days. He remembers how once she had saved him from an accident and because of her, he is live at present. Somehow Rohan talks to her and tells him that he is Rohan from her college as she was not behaving normally after the incident. When she identified him then told about  the whole incident happened with her. She finds something within Rohan. After that Rohan decided to solve this case only for his ‘Love’. He published some articles on the local daily to have attraction of people on this case. But he got fired from the job after this. Rohan’s mother tries to stop him from involving in this case. As his father was murdered because he had sent a corrupt to jail. So, She was afraid from then. The main story starts from here. Will Rohan solve the case? Who will help him in this? How will he tackle with the problems as he has also to look after her mother. What will happen to Ishu after this? Who has done so with her? All these questions will hook up you with the story till the end. It asks a big question in the end,

“We celebrate our ancestors, our women fighters, our women leaders, but do we think that we respect them? Did we respect our girls, our wives, our mothers?”

A Dirty World (Expect the Unexpected); The title of this book is perfect. As it is the story of this dirty world where anything can happen. People don’t care about others problem only look for their own self-gain. A Dirty World is a thriller novella which based on a major social issue and it succeed in revealing the dirtiness of our society, government, media and narrow minded people. It is a story of a girl who was being raped on International lady day while returning from the college. And how does she suffer and how came to help her. This book teaches us a lot of things and reminds us many things which we forget every time.

It is a heart-touching novella and story seems as a real. I loved reading this. It makes you emotional and put the harsh reality of our country before us. How girls face the physical and metal illnesses. How they are forced to face the real dirty world? These questions will hit deeply while reading. And this is also the main aim of the author to put the reality of the world before us. And, He succeeds in this. Narration is pretty good. But he lacks the ability to play with words but it doesn’t matter in this type of story. Fonts might irritate you. Somes nouns have been in written in Capital letter which is good.Cover is also fine as the story demands. The debutant author Manoj Shetty has done a great job and we can expect more from him next time. You should go for this. I highly recommend this book. It is very unique story and you should go through to know the dirty world.

Author’s Words at the End:

  • This story is all about what’s happening in today’s girls’ life, in their day-to-day life. How they are suffering from physical and mental illness. How they are forced to face the real dirty world when they had to go out for jobs or doing something different in this society. It didn’t find a perfect and happy ending, because I realised we need to stop this, our girls need to safely walk on the road, bus and train. They had right to get that respect at their workplace. So, we must take lessons, from this that girls are precious more than ornaments or money and their prestige is also precious for us. This is the time, where we can do what we need to do. If girls doesn’t live, then we can’t sustain because from them we are born.

  1. Great review! I also write book reviews, but mainly over nonfiction.

I really like nonfiction because it allows me to learn the lessons that successful people learned the hard way, from the comfort of where ever I might be reading.

If you are interested in the nonfiction I have been reading, or if you want to know what the benefits are from reading this genre in specific, please stop by my page. I post book reviews over biographies, classics, and inspiring nonfiction.
