The Highway Man (Book Review)

“There are two phases of life; happy and sad. People do not permanently belong to any one of them; they shift from one to another, time to time. However, there is no fixed time to decide the eligibility of the transcendence from one stage to another. It is simply random. Sometimes there are moments of consecutive happiness whereas sometimes, sadness overlaps one moment over another.

“Good time passes too soon Bad time crawls.”

– The Highway Man

The Highway Man is a collection of three short stories; Catherine, Sidgy-for a day, and The Highway Man.
About the Stories:

The whole world is upside down. People are walking in the sky with the ground moving above their heads. And the reason is simple; a bestselling author is in love. But why the whole world is inverted? What’s so special about this love? Or worse?

2. Sidgy-for a day

A man throws his masculine brain and heart aside and fixes a feminine one there. And the reason is simple; he wants to live the life of his lover, for 24 hours. But why does he want to do that? What’s the need?

3. The Highway Man

A man, neatly dressed in a suit, is playing with his bowler hat, on a highway at dawn. And the reason is simple; he needs a lift. But why does he need a lift? What’s his purpose?

These stories have unique plots. The first story is very interesting. As a bestselling author is in love with a fictional character of his own book and every reader will love the concept of this story. But it seems incomplete at the end as I think. I was expecting something more in it. The second story is a romantic one and it’s lovely and beautiful. I just loved this story. In it, a husband surprises her lady by taking her role for a day. This story shows a different view of love. The third one is one of the best story I’ve ever read, The Highway Man. The last two stories are totally different from each other but similar in one way. As both of these tell us about different aspects of the life and how life has different meaning for everyone in this world. We have different reasons to be happy. The Highway Man teaches us a very important thing that from how much pain one is going through, never forget to spread happiness among others and bring smile on their faces. Rest everything is perfect. Either it is cover, title, narration or language. It is a very well written book and every line is worth reading. This book does not take more than an hour to complete. It is decent read and one will love reading it. So, My rating for this book is 4.5/5
